debateYoung Earth or Old Earth Creation? The debate between whether most Christians are YEC or OEC is clouded under poor data collection abilities, such as shown by this attempt. The key is to not merely look at the last 25-200 years or to focus on America vs everyone else; especially since Europe has become almost atheistic over the last 200 years. We have to dig much deeper than looking at denominational statements, which as we've seen with the issue of homosexuality is greatly influenced by socio-political drives. First, let's exclude America altogether. Let's start in the 1400s and go backwards. This way we will not fall into the trap of "Western Christianity vs Eastern Christianity...". I want to know about historic Christianity before there was such a thing as "American Christianity". Interaction with Whitefield Theological Seminary on the Heresy of HyperpreterismAccording to the official website, Dr. Kenneth Talbot is the president and dean of unaccredited Whitefield Theological Seminary located in Lakeland Florida. Dr. Talbot founded the seminary in 1980. Prompted by the continual use of Dr. Talbot's and WTS' name by heretical hyperpreterists as tolerant and supportive of the heresy and one of the hyperpreterist movement's leaders, Samuel Frost; in October of 2008, Roderick Edwards wrote an email to Whitefield Theological Seminary inquiring if the seminary considered hyperpreterism to be a heresy and if WTS would have a problem if someone claimed they concluded hyperpreterism by employing the principles taught by WTS; and further if WTS was allowing a hyperpreterist to help design the seminary's Hebrew program.
Interaction with Dr. Kenneth Talbot on Refuting the Heresy of HyperpreterismWhat follows is an interaction with Dr. Kenneth Talbot, president of Whitefield Theological Seminary concerning methods of refuting the heresy of hyperpreterismi. This interaction originally began on a website called Theology Explained. Actually, it was never supposed to be an interaction, but merely a "position paper" stating my position. Dr. Talbot responded to it in "debate" fashion which is apparently against the rules since the site administrator closed down the thread and stated the site is not a debate site. The problem is, whether the administrator closed the thread after my response or Dr. Talbot's response -- it would be unfair to either. So, instead of playing that game, I have moved the entire interaction to MY OWN site where I can allow the interaction to continue as long as it will. I won't close down comments AFTER they have begun. As my site does NOT require a person to sign up to post comments, Dr. Talbot is welcome to continue his interaction. Either way, I will be forcefully responding to the many false charges Dr. Talbot has put forth. NOTE: The links to the site TheologyExplained where this debate originally occurred are now broken as that site administrator apparently deleted the debate to protect Dr. Talbot from himself.
