The Kingdom Come

Every year around Christmas especially, the "charities" are out in force seeking our donations. But none is more prolific than the ones that tell us about some poor child in some unnamed country without safe drinking water or schooling. We are told for just pennies a day we can change the lives of these children.

Next comes the very sad faces of these children and usually some phrase about "helping or not helping is our choice". Like most everyone, I feel for these situations. The spot does pull at my heartstrings. I have even sent in money before. But something struck me the other day.

The more and more I am trying to apply the ideology I espouse to the real world, I am seeing that even with this issue we are approaching it all wrong. I now want to know what country these poor children live in. I want to know who controls the government. I want to know what type of government doesn't help its own people living in these kinds of conditions. If America is going to "invade" a country, let it be these types.

For 40+ years I've been seeing these SAME types of commercials. Throwing money at the problem isn't going to solve the problem. Sure it will help some individuals but it is sort of like the old phrase, "Give a man a fish and feed him for a day but teach him how to fish and feed him for a life time." But in this case imagine a corrupt government is not allowing anyone to teach the man how to fish or even worse yet, taking away the poles and nets that someone has given the man. This is what is happening and why it is almost pointless, or dare I say wrong to send money to these places without doing more.

As much as liberals despise the military and using the military to yes, IMPOSE freedom in places where dictators are denying freedom; until America and other nations decide to rout out dictators we will keep hearing about needing to send money to some unnamed country to help out some poor child.

I'm not saying don't send money to these charities, but perhaps include a letter telling them you want the free nations to do more in way of removing corrupt leaders from these places.

The liberal agenda always thinks it can solve problems by throwing money at it; whether it is education or crime in America or helping some poor child in some unnamed country. Liberals like to soothe their consciences but they don't like to do the hard work it usually takes to really remedy these problems.
