Rapture

Hey Randy,

Here on this site there is a topic on the Rapture with much discussion and then there are some other areas on here that discuss it also. Though none of these discussions are complete you should find ideas that could answer some of your questions. There are people who agree with one side or the other. Unfortunately the same questions are brought against those who agree with the rapture and the discussions become circular getting no place. There are other Scriptures to consider other than 1 Thess 4 and 1 Cor 15 that shed light on the subject but it doesn’t seem that those against the rapture want further discussion about them. In fact those against the rapture don’t seem to want an in-depth study and discussion on the topic at all. They just seem to want to dismiss it as error and leave it at that but that is not going to cut it for the newcomers being introduced to preterism.

All things in the Bible are important to learn about but the deal about eschatology from the viewpoint of most people is that whatever your view may be it does not depend upon your salvation. A dispensationalist can be saved and an amill and a preterist can be saved even though they have a different eschatological view. They will have different world views and may see their salvation in different ways but it doesn’t mean they are not saved. I think all Christians want to be right and sometimes that’s the problem, most of them think they are right.

You said: if in noahs account the wicked were taken in judgement, the righteous were left, it could just as easily be surmised that since wickedness was out of the way, persecution was ended, there was no need to write.

I really don’t understand your point in that. The lack of documentation in the first generation after A.D. 70 has been used by liberals and unbelievers alike to discredit the claims of Jesus and the Bible as a whole. The futurists have used that in proof that the return and resurrection did not occur because nothing was said or written about it. One thing about the preterist rapture believers is that they can offer an answer to those claims where other preterists have failed.

You said: 2nd class christians, I thought that our positional standing was in Christ righteousness, not our own merit, therefore perfect before God, so where is this 2nd class christian teaching at?

That is still used as a straw man today. No one that I know of that is living and believes in the preterist rapture teaches or promotes that today. Yes it was used by some but even those preterist that don’t believe in the rapture have differing ideas among themselves does that make them all wrong?

God Bless,

Fred
