Enemy of the Hate

In this generation where people are easily labeled haters and bigots simply for expressing support for traditional values, the true Hate are those who would, through loud social conformance attempt to shut down opposition to their agenda. Whether we're talking about politics, religion or something more personal, everyone benefits when all the issues are laid out before us and true logic is applied; logic that takes into consideration demonstrative reality and not merely rhetoric.

Galatians 4:16 says:

"Have I therefore become your enemy because I tell you the truth?"

In many circumstances, this is exactly what happens. Someone who is simply trying to get the truth of a matter out in the open is shut down at all costs. There is a piling on in an attempt to muffle and smother the voice.

Martin Luther once said:

"Always preach in such a way that if the people listening do not come to hate their sin, they will instead hate you.

There is a good chance that if you are the kind of person that never rocks the boat, never upsets the apple cart, never riles anyone up; that you are preaching a feckless message. Sure, you can surround yourself with a bunch of back-patter "friends" but I think it is more about safety in numbers then doing the right thing.

This is not to say we should purposely try to antagonize people; but there is a lot of bogus, hypocritical minutiae swirling around out there. Most of us are either too busy or too apathetic to stand up and do anything about it.

Then there are the bigger scams going on. Things perhaps outside our purview or so big that if we took it on by ourselves it would destroy us in the end. What do we do about these things?

If we are to be "enemies" of people and things; let us be enemies of the hate. Let us be intolerant of liars. Let us be bigots against fraud and corruption; giving it no safety.

The enemy at the gate is that which is in opposition to truth and honesty. The enemy is that which puffs itself up and seeks a place in corners and other dark places.
