Why Alaska Governor Sarah Palin Will Probably Cause Me to Vote For John McCain

This was turning out to be the first presidential election since I became politically active that I was going to not vote.  If McCain had selected Mitt Romney or some other slick RINO politician as his vice president running mate, I would definitely be sitting out this year's presidential election.  I would rather have an out & out liberal like Barak Obama in office (without me actually voting for him) than to let people think that the kinds of things McCain spouts is really the ideological core of conservativism -- since it's not.

But by selecting someone like Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, I might just vote after all.  Why you ask?

First off, she appears to actually unrepentantly hold to an ideology & lives it out.  I'm so sick of people trying to tell us we need to be "bi-partisan".  Why should we water down our beliefs if we believe they are the correct beliefs?  Someone who claims to believe something & then will not defend it is someone who doesn't really believe anything.

Secondly, Palin has just enough experience yet without causing her to be an insider.  Whereas Obama has so little experience, he is dangerous.  The Obama campaign instantly tried to claim Palin doesn't have enough experience & that the Republicans can no longer use that charge against Obama.  HUH???  Has Obama ever been a mayor of a city, whether that city had only 9,000 people or 9 million?  Has Obama ever been a governor of an entire state?  Just what kind of EXECUTIVE experience does Obama have? (or Joe Biden for that matter? -- the Senate is a legislative body...not an executive).  For that matter, Palin is actually MORE QUALIFIED THAN HILLARY CLINTON WOULD HAVE BEEN.  Again, Hillary has never been a mayor or a governor -- she has only followed on the coat tails of Bill Clinton.

Thirdly, I want to see the Republicans take back the title of innovators & for being for the common man.  The Republican Party was more or less born out of the opposition to slavery -- how much more can you be for the oppressed than that?  The first black senators, Hiram Revels & Blanche Bruce were Republican (see here & here).  As a matter of fact, many of the "firsts" for African-Americans in politics has been via Republican ideology.

 (see here for even more)

It is time this lie of the Democrats ended.  They are NOT the champions of the common man -- history speaks against them on this.  Obama even tried to use Martin Luther King jr's memory to launch his own liberal dreams...but did the Democrats forget to tell us -- MARTIN LUTHER KING JR WAS A REPUBLICAN (see here)

It is not that I am a diehard Republican but I AM a diehard ideologue when it comes to promoting the ideas that birthed the Republican Party.  I AM a diehard advocate of the very things that drew the first black men, white men & generally people who love freedom to embrace the Republican Party.

I just want the lie of the Democrats & the media to STOP.  I never have been a big fan of liars, be they in politics, theology, or my every day life.  So, I may vote after all.

Voting for McCain

A few people have commented (on sites other than this one & without giving direct reference to this article, but oh well) that they find 2 things alarming about my article here:

1.  That I said I was originally NOT going to vote at all.

2.. That now I may vote because Palin is on the ticket.

Their first point was probably a reaction to the typical rationale that EVERYONE should vote.  Well, I don't share that rationale.  I personally think some people SHOULDN'T vote if they don't know the basic points of the candidates -- otherwise these people are just being manipulated & voting not with an informed vote.  However, the reason I was originally not going to vote was because I sincerely do not like EITHER of the two candidates.  Some people then may ask, what about other candidates not representing the 2 major parties.  I know lots of Ron Paul supporters used to read this website (I've probably ran them away purposely a long time ago).  I don't like Ron Paul either -- sure he says lots of good things I should like but he also seems to not live in reality.  Becoming an almost isolationistic country isn't going to help & will probably lead to America's destruction.  Ron Paul is not for me.  The other parties (such as the Constitution Party), though I'm sure I could find someone in those platforms to support are unrealistic to win & would be a waste of my energy & attention...hey, I'm just being realistic.  So, the RESPONSIBLE thing for me to do was to NOT VOTE...my not voting was a vote of no confidence in EITHER candidate...it was in essence a vote not only AGAINST both of the candidates, but agaist the system.

Point #2 -- The respondant to this article seem to feel by me now saying I might vote for McCain, that I was going to be "voting for the lesser of the two evils" or worse, that I was playing right into McCain's political game of picking Palin to gain my support as a voter -- but that I am being manipulated since McCain would be president & not Palin.  I think the implication is that Palin is just a token & will not really change anything -- that I would still be voting for the very thing I said I would not -- McCain.  But here is what the respondant didn't grasp (probably because I didn't spell it out), if I vote for the McCain-Palin ticket I would do so only because I don't think McCain would be president for long & that President Palin would soon take over (get it? or do I need to STILL spell it out?) Evenso, a VP Palin I believe will not be like any VP was have seen before.  This woman is not going to just sit around & look pretty for McCain.  She would be very active.  I mean, I could see this woman (considering his past actions), telling McCain that she would resign if he didn't let her do more.  In essence I am NOT voting for McCain but really only for Palin.
