Curious about Caffeine

Well,
I'm trying to jump start my Monday morning.  I'm not a coffee drinker but will drink hot or cold tea if it has been prepared (I'm too lazy to make it myself).  So, I was curious as to which soda in the machine here at work contains more caffeine.  I had heard rumor that Mountain Dew contains more than Coca-Cola.  According to this website: http://www.energyfiend.com/the-caffeine-database

On the U.S. Economy

With all of the negative financial news these days, I thought I might chime in with some potentially positive news.  I work in the international freight logistics industry which is concerned with moving goods & products from an origin to a destination globally.  Most goods & products are transported in huge 20ft or 40ft containers which resemble the trailer of a semi-truck & loaded into the hull & onto the decks of ships. (see example here)  From there, the containers are loaded onto trains or trucks & carried further inland.

Pause For One Moment and Think

[MODERATOR NOTE: Comments of objection are certainly valid, however I will not be allowing articles that are friendly to hyperpreterism to be posted on the front page -- My interaction is in green.  P.S. To those foaming at the mouth hyperpreterists who claimed I removed this article, as if I could not stand a "challenge".  Your little conspiratorial minds were wrong again -- just like you are wrong about why the Church Councils were convened, which WASN'T to impose beliefs on the Church -- here too you are wrong, I never removed the article I only moved it off the front page. Especially since I ALREADY answered this "challenge" before the guy even posted it. (see here: http://thekingdomcome.com/friend_foe ]

Ben Stein's new movie Expelled

I received this email & thought I'd pass it on...

We just finished seeing Ben Stein's new movie Expelled, No Intelligence Allowed, and we highly recommend it for your intellectual viewing pleasure.  It is very well done as one might expect with Ben Stein involved.

Please take your spouse or a friend and go this weekend to view it: http://movies.yahoo.com/showtimes/movie?mid=1809995068&date=20080418

If you vote for a Democrat...

The reason why I cannot see how ANY Christian can vote for a Democrat is not simply because the entire ideological platform of the Democrat Party is anti-Christian but because the very essence of the Democrat Party is anti-Christian AND anti-American (& guess what?  I can say this ALL I want because this site is not a 501C3).

But maybe I won't be allowed to say this for long in America because someone might complain that my words are "disturbing the peace" --

This is exactly what happened recently to one of Obama's delegates.  It seems some children were climbing in trees next to her house.  The woman was concerned for the safety of the children & for the ornate tree & advised the children to get down (it is unclear if the tree was on their children's property, however the parents were outside observing the children).  The delegate told the kids that "the tree is not there for them to be climbing like monkeys".  The children are black so it was assumed there was a racial element to the comment.

Why I am Still A Christian

Why I Am Still A ChristianFirst, it probably goes without saying that the label “Christian” has suffered at the hands of those who use it loosely, yet I never tend to avoid using this term, nor am I ashamed to be identified as one of Christ's. The only reason the term suffers ambiguity is because some people who use it think it merely means “be nice” to people or they try to say it means “unconditional” , promiscuous love & yet their definition of “love” is something far from real love.

We Christians call ourselves by this name not as a badge of arrogance as some might with mere cultic groups & their labels, but we take upon this name as a reminder in whose family we really are. We are not unified simply for the sake of unity – as if our love is some loose whoredom to share among all without care. But the family & community with which we unite is one that will have the true love to call us to loving repentance when we stumble, all the while offering a hand to help us back up. The Christian family doesn't just wink at drunken “uncle Charlie” at the family gatherings but they loving tell him to “go & sin no more” in an effort to restore him while not coddling his sin.

Now, within the camp of all of us who espouse the Christian creed (2 Thes 2:15) there is inexplicable unity, not because we all have the same opinions & theories, but because we set aside our speculations & allow Scripture to speak where it speaks & be silent where it is silent.

Talk about Prophetic...

Watch what happens right after a Hillary Clinton press conference...

This will be what happens to our nation if we elect her.

She even comments "that the bases [of the flags] are not weighted enough" -- Yes Mrs. Clinton, when things have poor foundations they tend to fall over, & the socialistic America you are trying to construct is just like that -- no foundation.

How to become President

It seems the first rule in running for U.S President is to PANDER:  Pander to everyone & offend no one.  This is just another side effect of the "love wins" socialistic nicey-nice mentality not only infecting politics but every aspect of society -- including the Church.

A recent example of this pandering came during & after an interview with John McCain & his 95 year old mother. (source)  During the MSNBC interview, McCain's mother showed open dislike of Mormonism saying about Mitt Romney & Mormons in general:

Perpetual Motion Machine

Ok so, I've always had a fascination with mechanisms -- especially how so-called ancient people were often able to perform feats that even today with all our "advanced" machines would be incapable to perform.

One such  "ancient" known for his inventions was Heron (or Hero) of Alexandria.  He actually had invented a steam-engine 2,000 years before it's official acceptance that ushered in our modern "industrial age".

Most of my young & adult life, I've given thought to energy sources & "perpetual motion machines".  A perpetual motion machine is considered theorectically impossible because according to laws of physics -- it always takes energy to produce energy & the energy that is produced loses some quality in the process, requiring more of the outside energy source to keep the process going.

Think of it this way, imagine you had two generators.  Generator #1 was gas powered & Generator #2 was being powered by the output of Generator #1 & in turn Generator #2 fed power back to Generator #1.  Perhaps you might think that once Generator #1 ran out of gas, both generators would continue running because they were now feeding each other power -- but there is energy loss in the conversion & once the main source of energy (gas) ran out, both generators would stop working.

TheKingdom -- The movie

kingdom movieI don't go see many movies but TheKingdom looks interesting.  Due out September 28, 2007 the plotline is a terrorist attack on a Western housing compound within Riyadh Saudi Arabia (The "kingdom" of Suadi Arabia) that causes a sercet team of elite U.S. forces to be sent to the kingdom to catch or eliminate the mastermind behind the attack.  The Saudi government is uncooperative for the most part until the team's leader Ronald Fleury, played by Jamie Foxx gains the trust of a Saudi police captain. Foxx & his co-stars; Chris Cooper & Jennifer Garner (from the series Alias) join forces with the Saudi police captain & the excitement really begins.

The reason I find this concept interesting is because the effect it might have especially if it is aired in Middle-Eastern countries.  Muslims might begin to see, from this fictional account how we can work together against terrorism.  It may have a dampening effect on the hostilities from the "Arab in the street" as the younger generation is drawn in by the heroic efforts -- not of "martyrs" blowing themselves up for the cause but by people working together for the common cause of safety & relative peace for their families.

The official website for TheKingdom movie seemed a bit slow, maybe they need more bandwidth or a faster server, but you can enter via the front door here: http://www.thekingdommovie.com/
