The Truth About Mass Murder and Gun Laws

This is an unpleasant topic to have to discuss so close to the holiday that even non-religious people celebrate as a time for family and friends, but the reality is people are going to be duped if they continue to get their news from the mainstream media on this topic.

To be clear, I'm NOT claiming any special insight into this except that the sheer FACTS just don't support the spin the media is putting on it.

Why America Failed in Afghanistan and Iraq

When America and the WW2 Allies defeated Germany and Japan, we did something we did not dare do in Iraq or Afghanistan; we changed their cultures. Germany had been completely infused with Nazism and Japan with Imperial Shintoism. One of the main focuses after the defeat of Germany and Japan was to dismantle the very culture that gave rise to those aggressive nations. Instead, with Iraq and Afghanistan; we have and are spending a lot of time trying to say that Islam's not the cause of the hostility. We look for other sources, such as the existence of Israel in the middle of otherwise Islamic countries or the tension of the relative opulence of the West compared to the Middle East; anything but Islam.

The principal way of reshaping the cultures of Germany and Japan was a radical rewrite of their constitutions so as to eliminate the elements that lead to the hostile and repressive mindset.

In the case of Iraq and Afghanistan, America and the Coalition allowed those countries to contain within their constitutions, the very element that led and continues to lead such nations to be hostile to principles of freedom and equality. Let us compare just the first lines of the preambles of the U.S., the post-war German, post-war Japanese, post-war Iraqi, and post-war Afghanistan constitutions.

What Went Wrong?

Free Courses on the U.S. Constitution

Hillsdale College has been providing two free online courses on the U.S. Constitution. I plan on checking them out soon. I'd like to hear from others that may have already taken these courses. Here is a video from Hillsdale urging people to get involved.

2012 Presidential Debate #1 Review

As many Americans and people around the world, I too tuned into the first 2012 presidential debate on October 3, 2012.

Barack Obama faced off with Mitt Romney in what is being presented as an election that may very well decide the course of a nation; not just in the short term but perhaps fundamentally.

The Trump Question - Obama Dodges Again

Barack Obama declared that his presidency would be the most transparent in history when in fact it has been one of the most secretive. In July 2012, after Obama's Press Secretary, Jay Carney was extolling Obama's supposed policy of openness a report asked a pointed question:

“One thing that people — at least his opponents — continue to bring up is his college records...” but Carney cut him short.

“Right, this is the Donald Trump question. I think he is the one that brings it up the most,” he said, before the reporter asked, “What’s the answer?”

Carney made no attempt to give one, saying, “I would refer you to the campaign.

Why Would Islamic Countries Want 'Freedom'?

It used to be that when America reluctantly but finally became involved in a conflict or a war, the oppressed welcomed our involvement. Our involvement usually meant that the end result was a more stabilized nation that would give more opportunity to more people.

So, why wouldn't Muslims want America's involvement in overthrowing the dictatorial regimes controlling most of the Islamic world?

Barack Attacks The Contract

I used to think Liberals were just Socialists Lite, but after further consideration I have noticed an alarming pattern. We conservatives talk about the "rule of law" and how often Liberals seek to trash it but I think it goes deeper than that. America has as one of its core principles, the concept of personal contract. That is; when two or more parties make a deal, they do so by contract, be it written or verbal. We enter into contracts trusting the terms will be upheld. Liberals are doing all they can to undo the contractual core of America. They do this by telling at least one party of a contract that they no longer need to honor the contract. We see this in the "Bail Outs" in how the government shafted the Loan Institutions/Banks. We see this in how Obama is trying to tell people they won't have to pay back their college loans. We see this in how the government is telling banks they have to allow people to break their mortgage contracts. We see this in how unions always want to renegotiate their contracts. We see this even in sports where one side doesn't want to honor the contract. We see this in how Liberals want to renegotiate the terms of the primary contract -- THE CONSTITUTION.

Why America Is Losing the War On Terror

What people don't often realize in our emasculated, politically correct world is that after America won World War 2, we temporarily outlawed Shintoism in Japan and permanently outlawed Nazism in Germany. Why didn't we at least make sure after winning the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan that Islam was not part of the government system? Instead, we allowed the seeds of terrorism and Al Qaeda to embed in the very government and societal structure of those two countries.

Now, with the so-called "Arab Spring", which has been removing singular dictators but replacing them with radicalized Islamists, we are being told by our American leaders that this is a foreign policy win. Really?

A President with a good sense of humor???

The First Black AMERICAN President: Herman Cain

Hello,
I am writing you because we are at a pivotal moment in history. We could very well see the election of the very first black American president. What's that? You have been told Barack Obama was the first black president. Maybe so, but that Obama spent most of his life outside of America. He really has no idea what it means to be a black American, perhaps not even what it means to be an American. This is the reason he often talks down to African-Americans; telling them they have been lazy with their "bedroom slippers" on instead of "marching shoes" (source). And wasn't it offensive how Obama started dropping the "g's" from his words when addressing the Congressional Black Caucus?

Isn't it time to elect someone who see people as people first, then Americans then somewhere down the line, acknowledges their race? Obama and the Democrats have been using black Americans for years.

Did you know that the first black American politicians were mostly Republicans. See this list:

Social Security and Christianity

Since the 2011-2012 Republican presidential campaign is high-lighting America's Social Security system, I thought it fitting to address the issue from a Christian perspective. In the debate, Texas governor Rick Perry has called Social Security "a ponzi scheme".

Contender, Governor Mitt Romney and the other Republican candidates have taken Perry to task saying among other things; "Our nominee has to be someone who is not committed to abolishing Social Security but who is committed to saving Social Security".

Here's the problem before we get into the biblical issues; the candidates are telling us we need to stop "Obamacare" before it becomes a fixture and cannot be undone, yet at the same time, we're being told that we can't touch Social Security because it has been around for over 70 years. See the inconsistency with their arguments?

Women In State Politics

A local television station announced a report on the lack of women in state politics. I immediately thought, here we go again. Let me be the person to say this plainly. Why are so many people worried about the color of someone's skin or their gender? I mean, let's face it, Barack Obama was mainly elected simply because people wanted to be part of the "historic moment" of the first black president (even though he is really only "half-black"). They didn't really care about what he believes or his qualifications for the job. It seems the same with this "women in State politics" issue. It seems some people simply want ANY woman to be elected. I want to see PEOPLE elected -- who cares about their color or gender. I want to see people who have American principles, such as free-market mentality, capitalism, and self-reliance, not socialists who tell us they want to "redistribute [other people's] wealth".

Egyptian Revolution: Sign of the World Changing?

Egypt Old and NewThe turmoil in Egypt may be a precursor to a revolution that will finally bring the Muslim world into the 21st century. On the heels of revolution in the Muslim country of Tunisia, Egypt as well as Yemen may be heading down the same path.

Young, college educated adults no longer want to live in the 7th-century. However, this doesn't mean they want to toss Islam, only that they want to be able to be human before being identified by a religion.

I Want Your Money -- The Movie

As the 2010 elections near, there is concern if the blatant socialism of Obama and the Democrats can be stopped and reversed.

As Christians, what is our role? Of course Christians aren't looking for a political answer, but shouldn't Christians be concerned when a politic environment is created where fellow humans suffer more than need be? (such as the first 2 years of Obama's socialistic dream)

I saw an interesting trailer for a movie called "I WANT YOUR MONEY"

Campaign Game

The Cordoba Initiative: First Step, Infiltration

Barack Obama made the following statement:

"As a citizen, and as president, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as anyone else in this country. That includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances. This is America, and our commitment to religious freedom must be unshakable." -- source

Perhaps at face value and after decades of liberals trying to tell us the United States of America wasn't built on Christian values, Obama's stand sounds simply like a man defending the rights of his fellow Americans. But upon further consideration, we should look at the contrast of Obama telling Israel that they shouldn't build more settlements in their own territory because it would be insensitive to the surrounding Muslims.

Perpetuating A Culture of Resentment: Race Relations

Perpetuating ResentmentIn Indianapolis, near where I live every summer the city hosts an event called The Indiana Black Expo (IBE). Typically, the event experiences some sort of violence but in the summer of 2010 there was a mass shooting where 9 people were injured (source). But it was the response to this situation that highlights the real trouble.

Tanya Bell, president and CEO of the IBE said a task force was being formed to examine "the root causes of youth violence" (source). Here is where there seems to be a very huge blind spot in much of the black community. When you have groups that focus on race; such as calling an event "Black Expo" or having "Black History Month", "Black Miss America", "Negro College Fund" and such then it should be clear that is seeding and perpetuating a root of bitterness (Hebrews 12:14-15) and resentment.

Muslim Contributions To Science

Islamic ContributionsThe Obama White House has tasked NASA to "find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science ... and math and engineering." -- source

The elites often like to claim that while pre-Medieval and Medieval Europe was groping around in the so-called "Dark Ages", Islam and Muslim culture was imparting to the world, great scientific strides. But let's back up a little. Where were the great centers of learning and knowledge resource BEFORE the advent of Islam?

If Obama's Agenda Was A Game

Obama Game

I often play civilization strategy/war games on the computer, both online and off. During an online game, I started joking with some of the other players about their tax policies on their population and said that my taxation was set at 100% and that my population had 0% unemployment because my citizens were all receiving government subsidies. To further the geeky fun, I told them I disbanded my society's military after making promises to the liberal supporters that if they elected me, I would make sure all our enemies loved us and would never want to kill us.

For you gamers out there, stop for a moment and think what it would really be like if you put into practice in your civilization games, the agendas of men like Barak Obama.

American Exceptionalism; Shining City On A Hill

America perhaps has lost its way.  America used to be a shining city on a hill, an example of freedom done the right way.  Whether by peaceful example or after wars, America would export its most precious commodity; "American Exceptionalism".  American Exceptionalism was the notion America is not merely an extension of European culture, but is uniquely positioned as a truly immigrant developed country.  A country that represents the best of the nations.

Was America Ready For A Black President?

Before you read this, please remember you are first Christians, then Americans (if you live in America), and then somewhere after that you are whatever race you are. Please, let's try to be civil and not get emotional. Please, please, please follow the links I give in this post -- especially the links about "Jim Crow Laws", "black codes", and the link on "Radical Republicans" -- this will reveal why after the Civil War, we had another 100 years of oppression.

An American Citizen's Response to Obama's Health Care Speech

In the coming days, weeks and months, we will be treated to a barrage of pundits trying to tell us what we did or didn't hear Obama say with our own ears.  These will typically come as sound bites followed by lengthy commentary pieces presented as "news". I wanted to take the time to give a detailed citizen's response to Obama's Health Care speech.

My name is Roderick Edwards.  I am a 41 year old husband to one wife and father of a child.  I work for a living, pay taxes and if all goes well, someday plan to die a happy and fulfilled man.

What follows is a line-per-line interaction with Obama's Health Care speech as he delivered to Congress on Sept 09, 2009.  My interaction is in blue and signified with the preface RKE:

Obama's Speech to Our Kids

On September 7, 2009 I was interviewed by our local media about the issue of Obama speaking to school students, without parental consent. Obviously, they only used a few seconds of the five minute interview, but here it is:
